On June 13, Apple released a new version of its CarPlay car system this week.

Mark Gurman, a well-known journalist, said in his latest issue of Power On on Sunday that he believed Apple was still pushing ahead with car development despite the recent departure of people from the car project.

According to the latest news Gurman has learned, Apple is negotiating supply chain agreements for auto parts and overall manufacturing.

And Kevin Lynch, the new head of Apple's auto program, has brought in several deputies from the Apple Watch team to help develop the car.
Lynch also recently restructured the car management team.

According to people familiar with the matter, Apple is now meeting a deadline that might be missed under the former head of the company.

While people familiar with the matter are sceptical about Apple's goal of selling a fully self-driving car around 2025, the company still plans to release a car as early as 2025.

Even without self-driving, a well-designed Apple car with all the fancy features of the iPhone could soon become a strong challenger to Tesla.
