TSMC's supply chain revealed that in order to gain hegemony and prevent Intel from taking orders, TSMC decided to transfer its 3nm R & D team to 1.4nm development, and is scheduled to formally fire its gun next month to enter the first stage (TV0) development of confirming technical specifications.
At the previous earnings meeting, Wei Zhijia, co-president of TSMC, said that the company's 2nm process is under research and development. According to the initial plan, trial production will be carried out by the end of 2024, and mass production will be put into production in 2025 at the earliest.
But Intel said earlier that it would complete the chip design of the Intel 18A (about 1.8nm) in the second half of this year and advance the original production date from 2025 to 2024.
